Some Energy Saving Lighting Tips

  • Always turn the lights off when you leave the room.

  • Try and arrange light switches so they are easy to turn off, such as having landing lights at the top of the stairs – otherwise you will be more tempted to leave the light on for later.

  • If you have an outside light, make sure that you fit a sensor that turns on when you approach it. Fitting a time switch will also stop the light coming on at night if a cat walks past.

  • Use lighting that’s appropriate for the job in hand, such as using low level light for watching TV.

  • Have a range of lights in the room which all have separate switches, this will will save you more energy than using a single dimmer switch for the whole lot, and will help you achieve the level of light you want.
